I have a Chem Eng degree, but it’s still hard to find jobs..Help!?
I graduated about 4 months ago with Chemical engineering degree from accredited school, and I have been looking for an entry level job..I applied to many many job, but most of the time, I would get no reply from the company. My grades were pretty good. Only thing I can think of is I had no internships or co-op. But I saw many friends getting a job after college without internships or co-op. I’m also open to relocation. I had other people review my resume and cover letter to make sure they’re okay. I thought it would be easier than other people since Chem Eng is not an easy major and I heard that US doesn’t have enough engineers. How long did it take for most of the people to get their first job after college with Chem Eng major? Is it supposed to be this hard to get the first job? Is it really going to be easier after a few years of experience?
why don’t you try tutoring or teaching for a while until you find the job you want. You could teach and tutor for like a test prep company, like the Princeton Review. They always need teachers that are good with the sciences. You could teach SAT II Chemistry classes or just plain SAT or maybe MCAT. I know a lot of people who do it as a career, but i know people who do it just to make some extra money. I know its flexible. This doesn’t answer your question really but I just thought I’d mention it.
