How many semester hours of classes are normal for a PhD student?
I’ve recently been accepted to a chemical engineering PhD program and was wondering how many hours of classes per semester is it normal to take? Minimum for full time undergraduates at my current university is 12, does that change for graduate students? Thank you so much!
Typically 2-3 classes a semester, so 9 hours is full-time at my university. However, with seminars and research hours, you’re typically taking more than that. But I definitely wouldn’t recommend more than 3 classes a semester.
