How could I get an Engineering Job Opportunity with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering?
I’m a Civil Engineer; I have a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Basra in Iraq. I have been worked with FLUOR Amec, CH2MHILL and Stanely Baker Hill companies in Iraq, and I’ve been in the USA since Nov. 2007 as a new Immigrant (permanent resident), and I’m living now in Nashville, TN with my wife.
For 6 months ago, I tried to get an engineering job in any state in the US starting with my past employers companies and even with another companies, but I failed to get any job.
I’m looking for a construction company which can give me this opportunity with a minimum training course for any new position out of my experience history because I’m really can be involved with any field of civil engineering work with minimum training and supervising.
I need any help to let me be in the right way for surviving and success in my new life.
If you qualify and can survive on their living allowance for a year, VISTA may be right for you http://www.americorps.gov/for_individuals/choose/vista.asp . I suggest this program because of one of the ‘perks’–you get one year of ‘priority’ for federal jobs after your service, so you have an edge on other applicants for those jobs. The job market is pretty shaky right now, so if you can afford to do this for one year (the living allowance, is around 10,000 for the year), it will be much easier to get a federal job afterwards. Good luck!!
